Equipment Operator

About the role

ElectriCom and Isbell Construction are part of a unified team delivering reliable telecommunications and utility infrastructure across the United States. We are seeking an Equipment Operator to support aerial and underground fiber-construction projects. This role operates heavy equipment, assists field crews, performs routine equipment checks, and helps ensure safe and efficient job-site operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate heavy equipment such as excavators, backhoes, trenchers, skid steers, and rock saws
• Perform excavation, trenching, backfilling, and site preparation
• Assist crews with groundwork and installation tasks
• Complete daily equipment inspections and report maintenance needs
• Follow all safety procedures and maintain awareness of underground and overhead utilities
• Load, unload, and secure equipment and materials
• Work outdoors in all weather and terrain conditions
• Travel to job sites, including overnight out-of-town assignments; overtime may be required
• Participate in required training and perform traffic control as needed

Requirements

• Experience operating heavy construction equipment; telecom/utility experience preferred
• Ability to read and follow construction plans and job specifications
• Strong understanding of job-site safety and utility-location awareness
• Valid driver’s license required; CDL preferred or willingness to obtain
• Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and commitment to safe work practices
• Ability to work outdoors and travel as needed
