Essential Tasks
- Maintains and operates one or more of the following types of vehicles or equipment: buses, front-end loaders, tractors, mowers, dump trucks, backhoes, boom trucks, motor graders, track loaders, excavators, lowboys, bulldozers, spray trucks, and sweepers.
- Keeps logs and files reports, as required.
- Operates heavy equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Provides park maintenance, to include mowing, edging, weeding, blowing walking trails off, tree & limb removal, plumbing, carpentry, irrigation repairs, concrete work, playground equipment maintenance, and maintain pond levels.
- Aids building shoulders on the roadways, along with any other type of road construction work necessary.
- Aids in directing traffic on worksites.
- Performs preventative maintenance on mowers and small equipment.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Minimum Qualification
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Two (2) years of experience operating light equipment or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Supplemental Information
- Physical Demands: Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
- Unavoidable Hazards: Routine and frequent exposure to bright/dim light, dusts and pollen, extreme heat and/or cold, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, animals/wildlife, vibration, fumes and/or noxious odors, traffic, moving machinery.
- Special Certifications and Licenses: Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
Standard Clauses
- May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the County.
