Equipment Operator

About the role

CSEC is seeking an Equipment Operator in Knoxville, Tennessee. This role operates light and heavy construction equipment such as excavators, telescopic boom forklifts, and skid loaders.

Responsibilities

• Operates equipment safely to prevent injuries and damage.
• Drives and controls equipment to complete tasks at specified locations.
• Collaborates with internal and external partners to prepare job sites for equipment activities.
• Surveils surroundings before and during equipment operations for safe ground and slope conditions.
• Conducts daily pre-inspections and maintenance checks on equipment.
• Loads and unloads equipment from vehicles.
• Notifies supervisors of maintenance needs promptly.
• Communicates through various means during operations.
• Assists in lifting and positioning materials.
• Complies with federal and state regulations and company policies.
• Completes required reports and paperwork.
• Troubleshoots basic equipment issues and escalates as necessary.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 to 5 years of equipment operating experience in construction, including 1 to 3 years of excavation experience.
• Valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL).
• 40-hour HAZWOPER training with current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher.
• OSHA 30-hour training and First Aid/CPR certification.
• Knowledge of OSHA regulations regarding excavation methods and practices.
• Able to perform duties while using required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Able to read and interpret load charts and manufacturer-approved attachments.
• Able to work in all safe outdoor weather conditions.
