Triumvirate Environmental, one of the largest environmental services firms in North America, is seeking an Equipment Operator and CDL Driver for our Bakersfield, CA team. You will safely transport hazardous and non-hazardous materials to various locations, ensuring compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.

About the role

Work in the Field Services Division performing a combination of heavy equipment operation, CDL driving, physical labor, environmental remediation, hazardous and non-hazardous waste handling, transportation, and construction-related activities. The primary responsibilities include safely and proficiently operating heavy equipment, transporting and handling containerized waste, assisting with environmental cleanup projects, and supporting emergency spill response activities.

This role is considered safety-sensitive and frequently handles hazardous chemicals and biological waste. You will be responsible for taking on and taking off personal protective equipment. Overnight stays and a flexible schedule, including after-hours, weekends, and emergency on-call activities, are required.

Responsibilities

  • Operate all types of heavy equipment and equipment attachments in a skilled, efficient, and safe manner.
  • Safely operate and drive commercial vehicles, including but not limited to tankers, roll-offs, and box trucks, in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Perform excavation, backfill, grading, trenching, site preparation, and other construction-related activities.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of hand tools, power tools, cutting tools, and other equipment used in field operations.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, establish elevations, install piping, and set catch basins.
  • Perform and assist with environmental remediation, site cleanup, and construction-related projects involving hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
  • Perform pickups and deliveries of containerized hazardous and industrial waste, including drums, totes, cylinders, and other containers.
  • Load and unload drums and other containers manually and perform various physical labor functions as required.
  • Drive locally and regionally while maintaining a clean driving record and meeting all applicable DOT driver qualifications.
  • Respond to and assist with emergency spill cleanup activities through Rapid Response, Inc.
  • Support all Company divisions and participate in after-hours, weekend, and emergency on-call activities as needed.
  • Perform general on-site job-related tasks and other duties necessary for the successful completion of Company projects.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, clients, and other personnel while professionally representing the Company.
  • Provide appropriate follow-up and communicate project-related activities and information to the organization.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of, and willingness to learn and comply with, applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA/RCRA, and other environmental, transportation, and safety regulations.
  • Follow all Company safety rules, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License.
  • Strong commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must have a reliable form of transportation.
  • Must be willing to consent to Motor Vehicle Record screening, criminal background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (inclusive of THC).
  • Upon employment, you will be required to participate in a random drug screening program (inclusive of THC).
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds on a regular basis.
  • Must be willing to work flexible schedule, including frequent long-distance travel and overnight stays.
  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without future sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in the hazardous waste, environmental services, construction, heavy equipment, or related industry.
  • Active Hazmat & Tanker endorsement.
  • Proficiency in driving manual transmission vehicles.
  • Working knowledge of heavy equipment operation, excavation, grading, trenching, and general site work.
  • Basic knowledge of waste transportation and applicable environmental regulations.
  • Ability to safely operate heavy equipment and utilize hand, power, and cutting tools.
  • Ability to load and unload drums and other containers manually.
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, dependability, and professional communication skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including after-hours, weekends, and emergency response assignments.
  • Ability to work safely with both hazardous and non-hazardous materials and in varying environmental and weather conditions.

Pay

Pay Range: $32 USD - $37 USD
