About the role
Skilled Equipment Operator position in our quarry production facility, operating loaders, excavators, rock drills, and wheel loaders to produce high-quality aggregate materials.
Responsibilities
- Operate loader by moving levers, depressing foot pedals, and turning dials.
- Conduct daily inspections, maintenance, fueling, and operation of equipment.
- Determine appropriate material to feed crushing and screening plant to maintain high-quality feed material.
- Set up or inspect equipment prior to operation.
- Operate equipment in a safe and efficient manner, maintaining control at all times.
- Remain alert to site hazards involved with feeding from the load face of material.
- Monitor for potential site or plant problems within your view.
- Produce consistent, highest-quality end products under the direction of the Foreman and Aggregate Manager.
- Become familiar with machine capabilities, limitations, and safe digging procedures.
- Receive and follow written or oral instructions regarding material movement.
- Move materials over short distances, such as around a construction site, yard, or to loading trucks.
- Lubricate, adjust, or repair machinery and replace parts such as gears and bearings.
- Measure and verify levels of rock, gravel, bases, or other excavated material.
- Perform manual labor to prepare or finish sites, such as shoveling materials by hand.
- Follow all company safety policies as well as OSHA, MIOSHA, and MSHA regulations.
- Practice safety at all times, including driving company vehicles or using equipment.
- Use required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, high-visibility vest, steel-toe boots, pants, and gloves.
- Take initiative and anticipate tasks that need to be completed.
- Work collaboratively with your crew and assist other craft workers as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Valid driver’s license; CDL preferred or ability to obtain within one year.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Clean driving record for the past 5 years.
- Ability to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Previous experience as a loader operator with demonstrated skill in operating equipment.
- 2-3 years’ experience operating a front-end loader in a sand and gravel environment preferred.
- Mine Safety Health Administration (MSHA) Training preferred but not required.
- Ability and willingness to learn and understand your role on the team.
- Ability to work long hours performing repetitive movements.
- Must be able and willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
- Ability to work in all environmental conditions, especially dry and hot environments for 10+ hours a day.
- Good work ethic, punctuality, and alertness.
- Mechanical knowledge of equipment, machines, and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
- Ability to follow all company, DOT, OSHA, and MIOSHA safety rules.
