About the role
Operate a wide range of construction equipment—including bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, RT forklifts, graders, a 4,000-gallon water truck, an 84' steel-drum roller, an 84' padfoot roller, a JD 744 loader, and tractors with plows—to move earth and other materials. Perform equipment inspections, ensure safety compliance, and assist with minor repairs. During downtime, support other crafts with non-operating tasks.
Responsibilities
- Operate various construction dirt equipment to move earth and materials with precision.
- Inspect equipment before and after use to ensure safe and proper functioning.
- Adhere to all safety protocols while operating equipment, including following signal directions from ground personnel.
- Assess job sites for safety hazards and plan equipment operations accordingly.
- Perform basic mechanical tasks and assist with equipment repairs as needed.
- Complete administrative tasks such as equipment inspection paperwork.
- Follow all instructed safety regulations and company policies.
- Work the designated schedule, including overtime as required with proper notification.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as an Equipment Operator.
- Proven experience operating bobcats, bulldozers, excavators, front-end loaders, backhoes, rollers, RT forklifts, graders, and similar equipment.
- Basic mechanical knowledge and ability to inspect equipment for safety and functionality.
- Familiarity with soil types and excavation specifications.
- Ability to follow instructions accurately and reliably.
- Reliable transportation and possession of all required tools.
- Willingness to comply with all safety regulations and wear appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis vests, leather gloves, steel-toed boots).
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Ability to communicate effectively through talking and hearing.
- Frequent use of arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, pull, and manipulate objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- Capability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding while adhering to fall protection requirements.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing required PPE.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or former Zachry employee with ROF (Record of Facility) status.
- Prior experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle records (MVR) check.
