Equipment Mechanic - Field
About the role
The ideal candidate should have experience with various types of heavy equipment, such as aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes, construction, mining, farm equipment, military heavy equipment, aircraft and aerospace, or ground support equipment (AGE/GSE), and previous experience as a mechanic or technician focusing on heavy equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform replacement of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components
- Utilize all technical support resources (such as operator, parts, and maintenance manuals, HowFactory, etc.) in troubleshooting, determining procedures, and identifying parts needed for repair
- Perform Unit Condition Inspections and Reports
- Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly manner
- Provide accurate and sufficient information on all required documents
- Advise supervisors of situations that may impact a customer relationship
- Adhere to Altec Safety practices and procedures
- Support customers by working overtime when necessary
- Advocate for safety in all activities
Requirements
- High School Diploma, state-approved High School Equivalency, or GED
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
- Physical ability to move objects and tools weighing up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling
- A high level of dexterity
- Ability to drive motor vehicles
- Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office
- Ability to support customers by working overtime
- Ability to advocate for safety in all activities
Qualifications
Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Skills
Knowledge of mechanics, electrical, and hydraulic systems is required.

$40-44/hr depending on experience and location.
