Equipment Mechanic - Field
About the role
Service on-demand access to technical support, direct parts, and engineering. Multi-level technician career progression program. Ongoing training on Altec equipment.
Responsibilities
- Perform replacement of electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical components
- Utilize all technical support resources (such as operator, parts, and maintenance manuals, HowFactory, etc.) in troubleshooting, determining procedures, and identifying parts needed for repair
- Perform Unit Condition Inspections and Reports
- Maintain work area in a safe, clean, and orderly manner
- Provide advice to supervisors on situations impacting customer relationships
- Accurately document all required information on relevant documents
- Demonstrate Altec Company Values
- Perform all tasks in a manner fully consistent with Altec Safety practices and procedures
Requirements
- High School Diploma, state-approved High School Equivalency, or GED
- Strong interpersonal, customer service, and organizational skills
- Physical effort to move objects and tools weighing up to 75 pounds; frequent stooping, bending, squatting, and kneeling
- A high level of dexterity
- Ability to support customers by working overtime

Qualifications
The Ideal Background: Experience with aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes; or construction, mining, farm equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers or tractors; or military heavy equipment such as the MRAP vehicle, HMEE, or tanks; aircraft and aerospace or ground support equipment (AGE/GSE) or similar
Previous experience as a mechanic or technician, with a focus on heavy equipment
Education in mechanics, electrical and/or hydraulic systems
Skills
Experience with aerial devices, digger derricks, chippers, cranes; or construction, mining, farm equipment such as excavators, skid steers, dozers or tractors; or military heavy equipment such as the MRAP vehicle, HMEE, or tanks; aircraft and aerospace or ground support equipment (AGE/GSE) or similar

Competitive compensation that rewards performance, Pay: 65,000-85,000+/year depending on skill and experience
