Equipment Manager

About the role

The Equipment Manager at Total Rentals is responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the company's equipment fleet. This role involves managing maintenance, repair, and readiness of the equipment, coordinating equipment logistics, overseeing inventory, purchasing, and asset management. The Equipment Manager works closely with project teams, vendors, and customers to deliver exceptional service.

Responsibilities

• Manage the maintenance, repair, and overall readiness of Total Rentals' equipment fleet
• Coordinate equipment scheduling, dispatch, deliveries, and pickups to support construction projects
• Oversee equipment inventory, asset tracking, depreciation, and lifecycle planning
• Evaluate repair versus replacement decisions and recommend capital equipment purchases
• Build relationships with equipment manufacturers and vendors to support maintenance and purchasing needs
• Maintain accurate equipment service records and ensure compliance with safety requirements
• Lead and support shop personnel, drivers, and daily yard operations
• Resolve customer equipment issues while providing outstanding customer service
• Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency, equipment utilization, and fleet performance

Requirements

• 3–5+ years of experience managing construction equipment, fleet operations, or a related industry
• Strong mechanical aptitude with experience troubleshooting construction equipment
• Experience coordinating equipment logistics, maintenance scheduling, and inventory management
• Understanding of construction operations and equipment needs throughout various phases of a project
• Excellent leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Experience working with equipment management software such as Point of Rental or similar systems
• Valid driver's license with the ability to obtain a CDL
• Able to lift up to 90 pounds and work safely in both office and yard environments
