Equipment Manager

About the role

The Hawthorns Golf and Country Club, in Fishers, Indiana, is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Equipment Manager. Reporting directly to the Golf Course Superintendent, the successful candidate will oversee all aspects of equipment maintenance, shop organization, preventative maintenance scheduling, parts and supply inventory, and daily equipment readiness in support of a high-quality golf course operation.

About the club

The Hawthorns opened for member play in 1994 and features an Arthur Hills-designed championship golf course that has hosted U.S. Open and U.S. Amateur qualifiers, as well as Indiana state championships. Under Concert Golf ownership since 2014, the club combines a strong history with continued investment, professional management, and a long-term commitment to excellence.

Opportunity

This is more than a traditional mechanic position. It is an opportunity for a hands-on leader to create consistency in equipment performance, reinforce accountability and safety, and support the continued success of one of Indiana's premier private clubs.

Key duties

• Inspect, diagnose, repair, and maintain golf course maintenance equipment, including mowers, tractors, utility vehicles, and small engines.
• Develop and manage a preventative maintenance program to reduce downtime and improve equipment life.
• Maintain proper setup and quality of cut for mowing equipment, including routine adjustments, sharpening, and inspections.
• Keep the equipment shop clean, organized, safe, and efficient.
• Maintain accurate service records, repair logs, maintenance schedules, and parts inventory.
• Order parts and supplies, track inventory levels, and help manage repair and maintenance costs.
• Coordinate closely with the superintendent and turf team to ensure equipment is ready for daily operations.
• Train staff on proper equipment operation, basic care, and safe handling practices.

Qualifications

• Experience in turf, small engine, diesel, automotive, agricultural, or heavy equipment maintenance.
• Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and the ability to work independently.
• Knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and diesel systems preferred.
• High attention to detail with a commitment to safety, reliability, and accountability.
• Ability to prioritize work in a fast-paced golf course environment.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Golf course equipment experience preferred but not required.

Compensation & benefits

• Salary starts at $60,000 and is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and the candidate's ability to meet the needs of the position.
