Responsibilities

  • Provide recommendations to repair or replace poorly functioning equipment
  • Efficiently prioritize repair schedule to ensure an uninterrupted production schedule
  • Troubleshoot equipment problems to include brake, electrical and hydraulic systems, detect imperfections, potential problems, safety issues and/or malfunctions
  • Provide improvements required to ensure compliance to safety regulations to DC and safety team
  • Ensure that department is appropriately stocked with part and tools needed to perform their job
  • Undertakes actions such as lubrication, cleaning, filter changes, etc., on equipment for preventive maintenance purposes
  • Replace broken or defective parts from stock parts and/or order replacement parts for major repairs
  • Modifies and tests equipment to improve systems uptime and reliability
  • Updates and reviews daily maintenance logs
  • Follows all safety policies and procedures strictly

Requirements

  • Education/ Certifications/or Equivalent combination of education training and experience: High School Diploma/GED and/or equivalent related experience
  • 2-3 years of technical maintenance or related experience/training; or equivalent combination of education, experience and training
  • Experience 1-2 years of on-the-job experience with electronics and mechanical equipment
  • Machining and fabrication experience helpful

Skills

  • Understanding of Safety guidelines
  • Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
  • Able to read and understand blueprints and technical reference manuals
  • Understanding of equipment operation and maintenance procedures
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude
  • Able to work well independently

Physical Environment/Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and to stand, walk, bend, stoop, twist and turn frequently
  • Exposed to temperatures ranging from -20 degrees below zero to 35 degrees Fahrenheit in Perishable Operation and 37 degrees to 90 degrees Fahrenheit in Grocery Operation
  • Ability to do repetitious arm, wrist and hand movements required for maintenance and service procedures
  • Must be able to work with hands and arms overhead, and to work in or under the equipment
  • Requires manual dexterity, overall coordination and good balance to work both at ground level and in high places to perform job duties
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Job Requirements

Pay

UNFI anticipates paying the above-referenced pay rate (or within the above-referenced pay range) for this position. Actual Pay, where applicable, will depend on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, education, experience, training, and any requirements under applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Schedule

Position Schedule: After the training period, the candidate’s schedule will be Wednesday through Saturday from 12:00 PM to 10:30 PM. Candidates must be able to train 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM Monday through Friday for approximately the first month in this position.
