Key Responsibilities
- Train employees on safe operation of heavy equipment and company safety programs (SWPs, hazards, safe practices).
- Develop and maintain training content (curriculum, materials, manuals).
- Assess training needs and customize programs for various experience levels.
- Lead training sessions (classroom, hands-on, virtual), traveling to different service areas.
- Coach safe work behaviors; correct unsafe practices and support continuous improvement.
- Maintain training records, competency assessments, and certifications.
- Cookordinate with Operations and Safety teams to prioritize training and ensure compliance.
Qualifications & Skills
- 10+ years experience Technical & Equipment Expertise: Proven experience operating a wide range of heavy machinery (e.g., excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes)
- In-depth knowledge of excavation, earthworks, and underground utility work
- Experience with both on-road and off-road equipment operations
- Safety & Compliance Knowledge: Strong knowledge of WorkSafeBC
- Experience with excavation safety, shoring, confined spaces, and hazard recognition
- Ability to identify unsafe practices and coach employees on proper procedures
- Certification in occupational safety or equivalent
- Experience with adult education and delivering training to diverse audiences
- Outstanding written and verbal communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Valid Class 1 driver’s license in good standing
- Positive, motivated, outgoing individual who enjoys working outdoors and demonstrates flexibility
