The Equipment Finance Operations Manager role is based in the United States and involves managing the full documentation and closing lifecycle of Equipment Finance transactions. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the end-to-end documentation and closing process for Equipment Finance transactions, including complex structures and documentation received from syndicated partners.
- Reviewing underwriting, pricing, equipment management, and other approval conditions to determine when transactions are ready for documentation and funding.
- Interpreting and developing commercial loan documents related to collateral and complex commercial financing arrangements.
- Identifying contradictions, documentation deficiencies, lien perfection concerns, and other issues that could affect funding or legal enforceability, escalating matters when appropriate.
- Exercising sound judgment when identifying potential operational, compliance, or fraud risks during the funding process.
- Resolving complex documentation issues and recommending improvements to operating practices, workflows, and processes to increase efficiency and accuracy.
- Consulting with customers and dealers regarding documentation requirements and using appropriate discretion when addressing inquiries or exceptions.
- Prioritizing fluctuating work queues and managing transaction volumes effectively while consistently meeting demanding funding deadlines.
- Preparing, executing, researching, and resolving equipment titling documentation and related issues within established timelines.
- Cooking with customers, sales, credit, collections, accounting, and DMV agencies to ensure titles are properly processed and documentation is complete.
- Identifying and addressing commercial loan documentation and lien position perfection issues before they create funding or collateral risks.
- Controlling and prioritizing work queues for new lease and loan transactions, maintaining strong visibility into transaction status and deadlines.
- Leading, training, coaching, and developing team members while encouraging challenging goals, high performance standards, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements include:
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the lease, loan, mortgage, equipment finance, or a closely related financial services environment.
- A bachelor’s degree preferred; an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience will be considered.
- A strong understanding of commercial loan or lease documentation, transaction closing processes, collateral requirements, and lien perfection.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex documentation, identify discrepancies, assess risk, and determine appropriate courses of action.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, particularly when handling exceptions, funding risks, documentation issues, and potential fraud concerns.
- A highly detail-oriented and conscientious approach, with a strong commitment to accuracy, compliance, and timely execution.
- A proven ability to manage competing priorities, fluctuating workloads, and demanding deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain detailed requirements clearly to customers, dealers, colleagues, and management.
- A collaborative approach with the ability to establish effective working relationships across sales, credit, accounting, collections, operations, and management teams.
- A results-oriented mindset, strong personal initiative, adaptability, and willingness to take ownership of complex problems.
- Experience leading, training, coaching, or developing team members.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and related business productivity tools.
- Experience with Salesforce CRM is a plus.
- Ability to perform basic financial calculations involving interest, discounts, percentages, ratios, commissions, profit and loss, and related commercial finance concepts.
