About the role
The Equipment Buyer will primarily focus on the acquisition of trucks and equipment to serve Centuri's electric and gas utility construction crews. The role involves managing the supply chain for trucks and equipment to ensure availability, quality, and efficiency within Centuri's specifications. The Equipment Buyer will work with category management to support sourcing strategies and serve as the liaison between field teams and supply partners.
Responsibilities
- Administer and support Centuri’s Capital Purchasing initiatives within assigned asset categories
- Work closely with operations to satisfy planned and immediate equipment needs
- Develop performance monitoring systems and manage supplier performance to ensure that contract terms and conditions are met or exceeded
- Engage in the supply chain processes for given asset categories including but not limited to the development of national agreements, logistics, e-business, diversity, inventory and cost reduction strategies, as well as the continued improvement of the effectiveness and efficiency thereof
- Maintain continuous communication with suppliers to manage inventory of trucks, trailers, tools, etc. to ensure swift deployment to operations
- Update P2P system with Asset Numbers, Purchase Requisitions and Purchase Orders
- Maintain regular communication with requestors with high regard to delivery timing
- Perform invoice/quote matching to ensure accurate billing
- Update the SAP Purchase Order status with current delivery information
- Track and maintain Assets Under Construction (AUC) where applicable
- Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or relevant field or equivalent experience required
- Minimum 3-5 years’ experience acquiring trucks and equipment used in electric and gas utility construction
- Knowledge of tools and equipment used for the overhead and underground electrical industries
- Experience with fleet, procurement and maintenance
- SAP experience preferred but not required
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, and in the use of software tools for data management & analysis
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies
- Highly organized & detail oriented with the ability to multitask, never losing sight of end goals/objectives
- Occasional travel to operational or supplier locations required
Qualifications
- Pass pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug screens
- Provide valid US work authorization documents for E-Verify
- Satisfactory results of pre-employment background check results

Compensation is commensurate with experience.
Schedule
Flexibility to work various schedules and stay late when necessary with little or no notice.
