About the role

The Southeast Area Environmental Planning and Permitting (EPP) Department Manager oversees approximately 60 professionals and is responsible for the financial performance of the department. This role requires experience in managing natural resource studies, developing environmental documents, and managing multi-million-dollar projects.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership and direction through managers and professional staff.
  • Leads efforts to grow company technical expertise.
  • Reviews proposals for technical and financial content.
  • Develops and manages the business plan for the department.
  • Advises regional business managers on growth, staff recruitment, and retention strategies.
  • Recruits and retains staff at all levels.
  • Maintains technical roles as project manager, lead verifier, or technical lead as appropriate.
  • Works closely with Project Delivery Leads to drive project financial performance and client satisfaction.
  • Supports business development opportunities.
  • Anticipates and solves both routine and unusual operations problems.
  • Drives execution of tactical business plans with direction from a region business line leader.
  • Manages regional business development activities and resources.
  • Directs the work of associates performing different tasks under the same field.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences field of study + 10 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education, including 2 years of leadership.
  • Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records review.
  • US Citizenship is required.

Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Environmental Sciences and/or a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
  • 15+ years of experience in Natural Resource Investigations as they pertain to the state and federal permitting in the Southeastern United States.
  • Demonstrated understanding of project delivery requirements, creativity, foresight, and collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team to meet project goals and deliver high quality technical excellence.
  • Previous experience with managing technical staff.
  • Previous experience in fiscal management and reporting for complex projects, or cost centers.

Benefits

The offered rate of compensation for this position ranges from $170,000 to $220,000 annually.
