EPG Technician

About the role

Ziegler CAT is seeking a full-time, experienced Technician to maintain and repair power generation equipment, diesel generators, industrial engines, diesel-powered construction equipment, and other heavy equipment. The ideal candidate will have strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills to deliver top-notch service to our growing customer base.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair Caterpillar equipment including power generation equipment, diesel generators, industrial engines, diesel-powered construction equipment, and other heavy equipment.
• Respond to customer needs in a positive, supportive, and timely manner to ensure maximum value for work performed.
• Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere to all safety procedures.
• Follow standard operating procedures and clean and organize equipment.
• Attend formal training sessions.
• Assist in preparing new equipment for rent or sale.
• Provide assistance to all other levels of technicians as needed regarding troubleshooting and repairs.
• Perform other duties as assigned or required.
• Maintain paperwork documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily/job basis.
• Document labor and additions to ensure work orders can be closed and billed as communicated with the customer.
• Positively interact with manager and team members to satisfy customer needs.
• Communicate effectively with customers, both internal and external.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical degree or high school diploma/GED with several years of comparable shop mechanic experience.
• 2+ years of relevant diesel equipment repair experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of generators and diesel engines.
• Personal attributes: attention to detail, efficiency, problem-solving, planning and organization, team player.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Own mechanic tool set.
• Ability to maintain a safe and clean work environment.

Minimum Physical Requirements

• Push/pull up to 50 lbs.
• Lift/carry up to 60 lbs.
• Lift bulky objects.
• Standing, walking, using hands, talking, hearing, neck rotation, trunk rotation, stair climbing, ladder climbing, repetitive bending, kneeling, sustained squat, forward reaching, overhead reaching, supine overhead reaching, crawling, bin lift, high steps, fingering/grasping – able to use bolt box.

Working Conditions

Work may be performed indoors and/or outdoors. Noise levels may be loud at times.
