Fike Corporation, a rapidly growing international manufacturer of pressure relief, explosion protection, fire suppression, and detection equipment, is seeking a Field Service Technician for the Houston area.

About the role

Entry-level position focused on learning and development while working toward providing highly skilled electrical and mechanical support for maintenance and troubleshooting of Fike’s Explosion Protection (EP) systems. Under close supervision, you will provide onsite customer service and support in varying conditions, from -50°F to +120°F, in environments ranging from coal dust to sterile pharmaceutical settings. Travel is required 65–75% of the time, primarily domestic.

Responsibilities

  • Learn and practice Fike Core Values: Focus on customers, respect each other, work together, be accountable, think differently.
  • Assist with projects related to Fike-supplied equipment.
  • Support job site problem analysis and troubleshooting.
  • Travel to various facilities nationwide, including emergency/after-hours trips to meet customer schedules.
  • Learn emergency rebuilds, routine service, and troubleshooting at job sites.
  • Comply with Fike expense policy and provide weekly reports for customer billing and expense reimbursement.
  • Develop knowledge of Fike systems and applications to assist in problem-solving for internal and external customers.
  • Document issues and findings, communicating effectively to required groups.
  • Ensure compliance with all customer safety requirements.
  • Provide customer service in accordance with company policies, procedures, and ISO-9001 requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all processed information.
  • Use Fike’s electronic field service platform to prepare reports and document pertinent information.
  • Learn to operate lift equipment safely, including working at heights and obtaining man lift certification as requested.
  • Complete in-person and online safety training.
  • Perform related duties as assigned; regular and consistent attendance is required.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, hear, see, sit, and use hands. Must be able to lift more than 75 pounds without equipment, climb ladders, and work in difficult conditions such as elevated heights, tight spaces, and ever-changing environments. Must be able to travel for consecutive days.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Mechanical or electrical aptitude.
  • Solid verbal and written communication skills to accurately describe problems and interact with customers.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Ability to obtain a passport.
  • Basic knowledge of Windows and/or Google Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Basic understanding of NFPA standards and related code requirements.
  • Experience in computer and/or security networking.
  • Previous field service experience for an industrial product.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $19.90 to $23.38 per hour, with potential increases based on experience.
