Paraprofessional stipend position reporting to the Principal/School Athletic Director. Employment is on an as-needed basis, subject to annual review and reappointment based on the principal’s recommendation. Stipend follows the adopted Oldham County Schools Extra-Curricular Sponsor Stipend Schedule.
About the role
Coach various middle and high school sports, supervise assigned assistant coaches, and support the athletic program under the direction of the Principal and/or Athletic Director.
Responsibilities
- Supervise assistant coaches on one or more sports.
- Assist in promoting sports within the school and community.
- Plan and organize the athletic program in collaboration with the Principal and/or Athletic Director.
- Organize and supervise practices.
- Teach individual fundamental skills, team strategy, game rules, and regulations.
- Promote good sportsmanship and self-control among student athletes.
- Ensure eligibility of participants, including verifying insurance coverage and parent consent.
- Provide a proper role model, emotional support, patience, and guidance to student athletes.
- Conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes.
- Recommend purchases of equipment, supplies, and uniforms to ensure health, safety, and welfare of student athletes.
- Demonstrate loyalty and dedication to the purposes and goals of Oldham County Schools.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or G.E.D. certificate.
- Minimum of 64 semester hours of college credit or completion of approved KHSAA professional development training as specified in Bylaw 27.
- Must meet age requirements as specified by KHSAA.
- Must pass a criminal records check as required by Kentucky State Law.
- Successful completion of first aid course, CPR certification, and any other applicable training required by KHSAA Bylaw 27.
- Demonstrated knowledge of sporting rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions.
- Ability to read, interpret, apply, and explain rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
Skills
- Knowledge of fundamentals of various sports.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including tact, patience, and courtesy.
