About the Role

Join BAE Systems’ Countermeasure & Electromagnetic Attack Solutions (CEMA) business area where we provide next-generation threat detection and countermeasure solutions to enhance mission survivability. Our team leverages industry-leading EO/IR and RF technologies to advance multi-platform detection, tracking, and defeat of incoming threats for aircraft, ground vehicles, and maritime environments. With over 40 years of experience fielding EO/IR survivability solutions, we use advanced machine learning-based algorithms to enable fast adaptation for new and emerging threats across airborne, land, and maritime products.

As a Systems Engineer, you will lead a team specializing in designing, analyzing, developing, and implementing complex algorithms with applications to EO/IR technologies. You will collaborate with Software and Hardware engineers throughout the product lifecycle and prepare design and project documentation for complex programs.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert in Algorithm Design with Electro-optical/Infrared or related technologies.
  • Lead a team of Systems and Software engineers in EO/IR Algorithm development activities across multiple programs.
  • Analyze, design, code, and modify complex software and algorithm designs for complex systems.
  • Manage and participate in trade studies, peer reviews, and customer meetings.
  • Support proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost and schedule estimation, and presentation activities.
  • Establish communication to keep management informed of progress and results.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physics, Math, Computer Science, or related field, and a minimum of 12 years of work experience; or a Master’s degree plus a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Current Secret Security Clearance (active within 2 years).
  • Experience with Machine Learning and/or Algorithm development.
  • Experience with Electro-Optical/Infrared Image processing.
  • Experience performing systems engineering activities across the development cycle (analysis, decomposition, derivation, allocation of requirements, system modeling & simulation, system design & development, system integration & test).
  • Experience with proposal development activities, including proposal text development, cost and schedule estimation, and presentation activities.
  • Background in embedded and/or application software development in one or more: C++, Python, Java.
  • Experience or background with advanced math and physics.
  • Experience leading technical teams.
  • Experience identifying, delegating, tracking, and reporting team tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Prior experience in technical/project team leadership.
  • Experience with the full life-cycle of software development, including software testing, validation, and verification activities.
  • Experience with algorithm development and optimization in C++, CUDA, or OpenCL.
  • Experience with Agile Development.
  • Experience with Model-Based System Engineering.
  • Experience creating and/or working with Digital Twins.
  • Experience presenting to and working with government customers.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented languages.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $149,603 – $254,317. Individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications such as skills, education, and experience.

Schedule

Flexible "9/80" schedule with every other Friday off.
