About the role
Parametrix is a 100% employee-owned consulting firm providing environmental, natural resource, and NEPA compliance services. The Scientist II position supports projects across the Midwest, combining fieldwork, technical writing, and planning.
Responsibilities
- Conducting aquatic resources delineations and other biological field investigations
- Supporting environmental permitting, NEPA documentation, and planning efforts
- Preparing clear, high-quality wetland reports and technical documentation
- Assisting in the preparation of NEPA documents (e.g., Categorical Exclusions, Environmental Assessments, and supporting technical reports)
- Coordinating with internal teams to integrate resource studies into NEPA documents and environmental compliance strategies
- Traveling to project sites across the Midwest (~25% of the time)
- Aiding in agency coordination and responding to comments under NEPA and related regulations
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resources, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in environmental consulting, ecology, or related field
- Strong technical writing skills and experience turning field data into clear, defensible reports
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Experience with biological fieldwork including aquatic resources delineations, habitat assessments, and reporting
Qualifications
- Passionate about environmental sustainability and community development
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of environmental laws and regulations
