About the role

Stantec seeks a Wetland Scientist to join our Environmental Services team. Our team provides services locally and nationally, offering a supportive environment for collaborative work with top environmental professionals.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting and supporting wetland delineations and preparing environmental permit applications for clients in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and elsewhere in New England.
  • Participating in other tasks such as reporting, permitting support, and communication with project management, clients, and regulators.
  • Conducting inland and coastal resource delineations pursuant to the requirements of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and other applicable State regulations, as well as Section 404/401 of the Federal Clean Water Act.
  • Preparing technical reports detailing wetland delineations and other natural resource based surveys.
  • Reporting and permit application preparation for the Corps and Massachusetts DEP Division of Wetlands and Waterways.
  • Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and/or clients.

Requirements

Your Key Responsibilities include conducting and supporting wetland delineations and preparing environmental permit applications for clients in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and elsewhere in New England. You will also participate in other tasks such as reporting, permitting support, and communication with project management, clients, and regulators. Your responsibilities may also include conducting inland and coastal resource delineations pursuant to the requirements of the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act and other applicable State regulations, as well as Section 404/401 of the Federal Clean Water Act. You will prepare technical reports detailing wetland delineations and other natural resource based surveys. Reporting and permit application preparation for the Corps and Massachusetts DEP Division of Wetlands and Waterways are also part of your responsibilities. Interacting and communicating effectively with multi-disciplinary teams, regulators, and/or clients is essential.

Qualifications

  • Experience delineating wetlands and other regulated resources according to the US Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Wetlands Delineation Manual and Regional Supplement, and the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act.
  • Experience delineating wetlands and an understanding of the applicable wetland related regulations and delineation protocols in other New England states is a plus.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, excellent ethics, attitude, and morale.
  • Writing, organization, planning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience driving/navigating in remote locations, and demonstrated experience with GPS or iPAD data collection technologies is desired.
  • Knowledge of computer applications and functions, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Ability to travel for field work as needed.
