Environmental Technician IV Full-Time/Days (Winnie Palmer Hospital)
About the role
The Environmental Services Technician I performs essential daily cleaning and disinfection duties that uphold hospital safety standards and support timely room turnover. This role is vital to maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming environment for patients and visitors.
Responsibilities
- Clean and disinfect patient rooms, operating rooms, bathrooms, corridors, and public areas using approved procedures.
- Support patient throughput by ensuring timely room turnover for admissions and discharges.
- Remove biomedical waste, trash, and soiled linens; replenish supplies as needed.
- Operate UV disinfection equipment when required.
- Follow all infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE use and isolation precautions.
- Utilize department technology systems such as Bed Management.
- Report unsafe conditions and submit Engineering Service Requests.
- Maintain compliance with Orlando Health safety, risk management, and HIPAA standards.
- Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
Requirements
The Environmental Services Technician I must have:
- A High School Diploma or GED.
- Trained on perioperative room equipment.
- Trained on perioperative room set-up.
- Four (4) years of experience in healthcare support services, EVS, hospitality, or a related field.
- A Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) certification preferred.
Qualifications
- Education/Training: High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Licensure/Certification: Certified Surgical Cleaning Technician (CSCT) preferred.
