Environmental Staff Engineer/Scientist/Geologist
About the role
The Environmental Staff Scientist/Engineer/Geologist supports the Environmental department in all services including Phase I/II ESAs, asbestos surveys, lead-based paint surveys, indoor air quality assessments, UST/LUST assessments, site remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, wetland surveys, and field observation documentation.
Responsibilities
- Support the department on all environmental services including Phase I/II ESAs, asbestos surveys, lead-based paint surveys, indoor air quality assessments, UST/LUST assessments, site remediation, soil and groundwater sampling, wetland surveys, and/or field observation documentation.
- Aid in the development of work scope, report preparation, client and subcontractor coordination, and assessment of proper response actions.
- Manage and perform Environmental Site Assessments following the applicable ASTM Standards.
- Participate in the installation of soil borings, monitoring wells, remediation activities, waste management and disposal, and other field requirements using standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Author technical reports and proposals.
- Provide support planning, monitoring, and controlling project budgets and building solid relationships with clients and team members.
Requirements
- BS in Environmental Science, Engineering, Geology, or related field
- 8+ years of proven technical environmental consulting experience
- Project management/coordination experience
- Soil/Groundwater/Vapor sampling, data evaluation, and report preparation experience
- Experience managing field teams and drillers
- Experience managing projects under regulatory programs like VCUP, OPS, etc.
- Client communications/management experience
- Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organization, as well as time and budget management skills
- Computer literate and able to operate most field/office equipment relating to one’s discipline
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required
- Ability to travel up to 25% of the time
Qualifications
- P.E. / P.G. or ability to obtain within one year
- Experience with Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System Design
- OPS Colorado Recognized Environmental Professional (CO-REP)
- COLORADO ASBESTOS BUILDING INSPECTOR (CABI)
- Experience with SWPPP/SPCC plans/inspections
Skills
Must be detail-oriented, and a team player with excellent communication, analytical, and organization, as well as time and budget management skills. Must be computer literate and able to operate most field/office equipment relating to one’s discipline. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. Valid Driver's License and reliable driving record required. Ability to travel up to 25% of the time.
