About the Role

As an Environmental Specialist IV, you will leverage functional and technical expertise in air, water, and/or waste to run projects and programs of moderate complexity that require specialized breadth of knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and provides guidance on environmental processes and policies.
  • Assesses environmental risk, provides recommendations to address risk, and participates in or runs the approved course of action, including required regulatory documentation.
  • Participates in environmental project planning and implementation, including scheduling, cost estimating, preparation of environmental impact assessments, and reporting.
  • Provides guidance and mentors others.
  • Prepares and submits sophisticated applications to procure environmental permits, renewals, approvals, variances, and other authorizations, and coordinates with company partners.
  • Performs environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations as needed.
  • Identifies environmental training needs and provides training.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements improvements for systems and practices in air, water, waste management, and/or remediation activities for assigned areas.
  • Prepares and submits all required compliance reports and certifications; develops and maintains documentation related to environmental compliance programs.
  • Cultivates relationships between the company and regulatory agencies.
  • Interprets applicable federal, state, and local environmental regulations and ensures compliance with such regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • Minimum eight (8) years of environmental experience.
  • Demonstrates excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, with safety as the utmost priority.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and PC skills.
  • Experience in assessing environmental risk, providing recommendations, and implementing approved courses of action, including development of required regulatory documentation.
  • Coordinates regular environmental planning, scheduling, and cost estimating for operational or project support.
  • Prepares and submits complex applications to procure environmental permits, approvals, variances, and other authorizations.
  • Develops and maintains necessary documentation related to environmental compliance programs (in one or more of the following areas: Air, Water, Waste, SPCC, Hazardous Materials).
  • Performs environmental compliance audits and due diligence investigations as necessary.
  • Develops, recommends, and implements improvements in environmental services systems and practices.
  • Provides guidance to junior-level specialists.
