Job Summary

The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Empty waste baskets and perform routine cleaning tasks.
• Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines.
• Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards.
• Wear proper protective equipment and follow appropriate guidelines.
• Keep storage, equipment, and carts well‑stocked, clean, and tidy.
• Use pagers and other technology appropriately as needed.
• Assist in laundry areas when appropriate.
• Perform physical activities such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials; lift and/or move up to 40‑50 lb and push/pull variable weights.
• Remain on feet for the majority of the shift and may be exposed to equipment noise.
• Work variable hours based on patient/resident needs, including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred.
• Ability to use a computer; prior cleaning experience helpful.
• Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals helpful.
• Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required.
• Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred.

Pay

Salary Range: $15.00 – $22.50 per hour.

Schedule

Shift: 8 Hours – Evening Shifts
Job Schedule: PRN (as needed)
Weekly Hours: Varies
