Environmental Services Technician PRN

This position is responsible for performing general housekeeping tasks to maintain the facility and associated buildings in a sanitary, safe, and attractive condition, meeting hospital and Joint Commission standards.

About the role

Located at Logan Regional Hospital Environmental Services Department. Will cover all areas of the facility and may be asked to carry a department work phone and Vocera throughout the shift. Daily assigned areas may vary depending on staffing.

This is a PRN (as-needed) position with swing shifts. Hours could be 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, or 5:00 PM to 1:30 AM, based on department needs. Most PRN caregivers work 1–3 shifts per week.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect assigned areas using department cleaning procedures.
• Use cleaning chemicals properly according to Joint Commission and OSHA standards.
• Understand procedures and properly dispose of infectious waste and trash.
• Handle and clean up emergency spills per department guidelines, Joint Commission, and OSHA standards.
• Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Maintain work and storage areas following established policy and procedures to ensure safety.

Requirements

• Demonstrated communication skills, including differentiating color-coded labels and/or chemicals and following written and/or verbal directions.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule to meet department needs.
• Professional housekeeping experience (preferred).
• Must be a reliable team player who is punctual, hardworking, flexible, self-motivated, and brings a positive attitude to every shift.

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, monitors, identify equipment and supplies, and assess customer needs.
• Frequent interactions with customers requiring clear communication and quick understanding of spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues.
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision, including frequent computer, phone, and cable set-up and use.
• Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transport, pull, and push equipment, including heavy items.
• Must be able to work on hands and knees, bend, and lift loads, with constant standing/walking for 8 hours.
• Good hand dexterity, vision, and attention to detail.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $17.68 – $22.99, dependent upon experience.
