Position Summary
Performs routine housekeeping and service work involving the performance of varied duties in a university environment. Work areas include, but are not limited to, dormitories, classrooms, gymnasiums, and offices. Work performed must meet standards of quality and is reviewed for thoroughness, neatness, and general effectiveness.
Essential Functions
- Performs routine duties for general housekeeping, appearance, and upkeep on a scheduled and regular basis
- Duties may include, but are not limited to, cleaning/sanitizing spaces, vacuuming, sweeping, dusting, mopping, emptying trash, washing windows, cleaning bathrooms, waxing floors, carpet shampooing, cleaning stairwells, and keeping restrooms stocked with supplies
- Cleans mechanical and utility equipment to locate problems and report them
- Performs turnovers in preparation for summer groups. This includes, in addition to the duties mentioned above, making beds and passing out linens and supplies
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED
- Handle multiple priorities and have good time-management skills
- Possess good written and verbal skills for effective communication
- Must be able to lift, push a housekeeping cart, and stand for long periods
- Tolerate cleaning chemicals
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment
- Possess good interpersonal skills
- Have basic computer skills
