Environmental Services Technicians are responsible for disinfecting, cleaning, and maintaining the hospital environment using proper techniques, chemicals, and best practices. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: Medical/Surgical Unit, Birth Center, Cancer Care and Infusion Center, Surgery Center, Imaging, Emergency Department, and Clinic.

Responsibilities

  • Properly use work sheets, time sheets, and logs.
  • Prioritize daily work schedule.
  • Use a computer for time tracking, emails, and testing.
  • Work in all areas of Environmental Services (including laundry and courier services).
  • Sweep, dust mop, wet mop, and vacuum; empty trash containers, recycling containers, linen hampers.
  • Clean and disinfect bathrooms using proper chemicals and techniques.
  • Use scrubbers, buffers, carpet machines, vacuums, and other powered equipment.
  • Properly handle hazardous waste and regulated medical waste.
  • Set up cleaning cards and restock Environmental Services closets.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, and write English proficiently to ensure safe and effective communication in a healthcare environment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute Foundations Course Certification or obtain within six months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in cleaning/disinfecting/healthcare industry.
  • Maintain a valid MN driver’s license and driving record that meets NH+C standards.

Pay

The hourly wage range for this position is $18.02–$25.43. This range reflects the base salary for this position.

Schedule

  • 16 hours per two-week pay period (0.2 FTE).
  • Saturday and Sunday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM; Week 1: Sunday, Week 2: Saturday.
