About the Role

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. You will perform routine cleaning tasks and use specialized equipment to sanitize the facility, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Responsibilities

  • Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and refilling supplies (e.g., soap dispensers, paper towels).
  • Use specialized equipment and techniques to sanitize the facility, adhering to health care cleaning and disinfecting principles.
  • Dispose of biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects, following proper techniques and regulatory requirements.
  • Remove waste and transport it to the appropriate disposal area, identifying proper waste streams (e.g., regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous).
  • Follow infection prevention practices, including hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment as outlined in the Standard Work cart setup.
  • Adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA) and facility safety guidelines.
  • Operate and maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed for cleaning and disinfection.
  • Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives, such as improving patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
  • Demonstrate critical thinking, personal accountability, and collaboration as part of the patient care team.
  • Perform additional tasks as needed, including conference room setups, cleaning stairwells and elevators, hanging cubicle curtains, and mentoring new employees.

Requirements

  • None required upon hire.
  • Preferred: High School Graduate or GED with previous healthcare experience.

Pay

$15.00 - $21.47 per hour.
