Environmental Services Techician
About the role
As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized to protect everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. You are the most important component contributing to the safety and comfort of our patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize all patient and ancillary departments, offices, and public areas.
- Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and washing walls, doors, door frames, ceilings, furniture, fans, vents, fixtures, floors, carpets, and windows.
- Complete assigned cleaning tasks within an eight-hour period.
- Select and prepare proper chemical solutions for all cleaning jobs.
- Collect and transport infectious, chemo, pharmaceutical, and pathological waste in special waste containers, ensuring 100% compliance with Universal Precautions and Glove Policy.
- Collect, process, and dispose of trash and linen throughout the facility.
- Maintain janitors' carts and closets stocked and neat, ensuring 100% compliance.
- Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies.
- Deliver clean linens.
- Replace cubicle curtains in assigned areas every other month or sooner if needed.
- Clean vents and fans in all assigned areas monthly.
- Complete meeting and event room set-ups, including moving, arranging, and replacing furniture and equipment at least 15 minutes prior to meetings or events.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Knowledge of basic housekeeping practices and procedures.
- Proper handling and disposal of infectious waste.
- Proper safety skills in handling housekeeping chemicals and equipment.
- Basic floor care practices.
- Knowledge of proper cleaning, sanitation, infectious waste, floor and carpet care, including aseptic procedures, detergent/germicide solutions, and proper use and cleaning of equipment.
- Adherence to safety standards and procedures in housekeeping.

Pay
$29.76 - $33.89 per hour.
