Environmental Services Tech

About the role

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. Every day, you will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting. You will also use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize our facility.

This role requires you to learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies, as well as deliver clean linens. To be successful in this role, you are thorough and committed to safety.

A well-maintained facility with compassionate staff brings comfort and peace of mind to patients, their loved ones, and all who serve here. You will be responsible for completing daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and other common areas.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties while demonstrating a working knowledge of the health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements
• Displays safe chemical use and equipment handling for all items within the healthcare environment
• Adheres to all organization safety, risk management and infection control guidelines and standards while promoting a culture of safety
• Actively participates in departmental performance improvement initiatives, including but not limited to initiatives to improve patient experience and cleanliness metrics
• Maintains cleaning cart(s), supplies, and equipment, as outlined in the Standard Work cart set up
• Removes waste and transports to the appropriate disposal area while identifying proper waste stream handling
• Follows all infection prevention practices, including but not limited to: proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE)
• Recognizes and adheres to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA)
• Practices critical thinking skills and demonstrates personal accountability
• Identify and utilize appropriate resources to ensure identified problems or concerns are followed through and resolved
• Demonstrates knowledge of facility safety requirements and the ability to operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment

Requirements

• High School Graduate General Studies and Previous healthcare experience (preferred)
• High School GED General Studies and Previous healthcare experience (preferred)

Pay

The pay range for this role is $19.53 - $28.80 /hour
