Environmental Services Tech

About the role

As our Environmental Services Technician, you'll keep our patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized. This protects everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, or dusting.
• Use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize the facility.
• Learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects.
• Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies.
• Deliver clean linens.
• Perform daily occupied, discharge, and transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common spaces in accordance with healthcare environmental services standards.
• Follow infection prevention, safety, risk management, and HIPAA guidelines, including proper PPE use, hand hygiene, isolation precautions, and waste stream handling procedures.
• Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning principles, safe chemical usage, and proper operation and maintenance of EVS equipment and tools.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment while ensuring work areas meet cleanliness, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Collaborate with the patient care team, apply critical thinking and accountability, and resolve concerns using appropriate resources and communication.
• Support departmental and facility operations through performance improvement initiatives, mentoring new staff, and assisting with additional facility needs such as conference room setups, stairwells, elevators, and cubicle curtain changes.

Requirements

Any combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate or GED in General Studies.
• Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Pay

$22.36 - $32.61 /hour
