Environmental Services Tech

About the role

As our Environmental Services Technician, you’ll keep patient rooms and all areas of the hospital clean and sanitized, protecting everyone from potential illness or injury due to infectious diseases or other hazards. You will perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting, and use specialized equipment and techniques to further sanitize the facility. This role requires learning and adhering to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials, including bodily fluids or sharp objects. You may also refill soap and paper towel dispensers, deliver clean linens, and maintain supplies.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Demonstrate a working knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment according to Standard Work cart setup.
• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas while identifying proper waste stream handling (regulated medical, recycle, solid, hazardous) in accordance with established procedures and regulatory requirements.
• Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Operate and properly maintain all EVS tools and equipment needed to clean and disinfect the environment.

Requirements

• No formal education, licensures, or certifications required upon hire.
• Preferred: High school graduate or GED in General Studies and previous healthcare experience upon hire.
