ENVIRONMENTAL SERVICES TECH 1

Responsibilities

• Total Environmental cleaning of assigned area(s).
• Discharge patient room cleaning.
• Occupied patient room cleaning.
• Non-patient room cleaning.
• Support area cleaning.
• Remake beds as assigned.
• Replace supplies, change curtains and drapes, move and transport equipment and furnishings to facilitate cleaning.
• Handle clean and soiled linens according to policy, including clearing of linen chutes and transportation off of floors.
• Utilize and comply with standards relating to Universal Precautions as appropriate.
• Empty and maintain waste and recycling containers using appropriate liners.
• Handle trash according to standards, including transportation of trash, chute clearing, compactor filling and operation.
• Assess the overall condition of area and equipment, taking proper action complying with standards for items needing fixing, repair or maintenance.
• Change out needle boxes.
• Maintain the cleaning and storing of equipment in functional order.
• Assist in onboarding EVS staff post EVS Training program.
• Cleaning of Elevators, stairwells and windows.
• Properly store and label all cleaning solutions and chemicals.
• Maintain, stock and utilize supplies in storage rooms and EVS closets appropriately.
• Maintain Linen closets, ensuring cleanliness and organization.
• Vacuuming of floors and maintaining carpet cleaning tools to ensure proper operation.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Previous environmental experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
• Knowledge/ Skills/ Abilities: Prefer knowledge of cleaning and general environmental care procedures, including floor and carpet care. Prefer knowledge of waste management and universal precautions. Operation of basic electronic/ technological devices. Operation of equipment and tools to effectively and efficiently clean floors, carpets, and other surfaces. Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to maintain punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. Frequent lifting up to 20lbs. Frequent standing, pushing, pulling, balancing, reaching, handling. Frequent feeling, hearing, tasting, smelling, near vision. Frequent midrange vision, far vision, depth perception. Frequent visual accommodation, color vision, field of vision. Frequent repetitive motion. Occasional lifting up to 100 or more lbs. Occasional lifting, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching. Occasional squatting, crawling, twisting, repetitive arm movements, and talking.
