About the role

As our Environmental Services Specialist, you will passionately provide a clean and safe environment for our patients, families, and hospital visitors, acting as a dedicated custodian of health and comfort. You will clean patient and waiting rooms, operating suites, and offices, ensuring all areas meet our high standards for hygiene and safety, thereby directly contributing to the well-being of everyone within the hospital.

Responsibilities

  • Clean and disinfect specialty units and equipment, including but not limited to Surgical Services, Labor & Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health, and Burn Unit.
  • Adhere to all organizational safety, risk management, and infection control standards while promoting a culture of safety.
  • Follow environmental and infection prevention practices, such as proper cleaning and disinfection protocols, hand hygiene, standard and isolation precautions, and proper donning and doffing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Perform duties demonstrating knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products.
  • Understand training and education related to evidence-based recommendations in accordance with AHE, APIC, AORN, CDC, The Joint Commission, and other regulatory bodies.

Requirements

  • Ability to distinguish between levels of disinfection and perform low and intermediate level disinfection.
  • Knowledge and skills in the use of power equipment, including conventional and high-speed floor machines, carpet cleaning equipment, wet/dry/power vacuum equipment, and push sweepers.
  • Ability to operate necessary equipment and machines.
  • Effectively use computers and mobile devices.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, fostering an environment of open and respectful dialogue.
  • Ability to work without close supervision.

Qualifications

  • Preferred: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Preferred: Previous healthcare experience.

Pay

$17.00 - $22.79 per hour.
