About the role
The Environmental Services Technician at Sanford Health is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas. The role involves tasks such as emptying waste baskets, sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors, and using various cleaning tools.
Responsibilities
- Emptying waste baskets and sweeping floors
- Sweeping, scrubbing, waxing, or polishing floors
- Using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
- Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation in patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas
- Wearing appropriate protective equipment and following guidelines
- Keeping storage, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
- Assisting in laundry areas as needed
- Using technology appropriately when needed
- Standing for the majority of the shift and being on their feet
- Exposure to certain levels of noise from equipment
- Varying work hours including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience
- Ability to use a computer
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment preferred
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
- Ability to use a computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful
- Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful
- Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills are required
- Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred
