About the role

Environmental Services Technician is responsible for maintaining a safe and sanitary environment in patient/resident rooms and assigned areas for patients/residents, visitors, and associates by following infection control, safety, and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Empty waste baskets
  • Sweep, scrub, wax, or polish floors using brooms, mops, or powered scrubbing and waxing machines
  • Demonstrate knowledge of housekeeping processes, tools, and techniques in a healthcare environment to provide a clean and sterile environment for patients/residents and facility staff
  • Clean patient/resident rooms, hallways, lobbies, lounges, restrooms, corridors, elevators, stairways, locker rooms, and other work areas to meet health standards
  • Wear proper protective equipment following appropriate guidelines
  • Maintain storage areas, equipment, and carts well-stocked, clean, and tidy
  • Use pagers and other technology responsibly as needed
  • Assist in laundry areas as appropriate
  • Use technology applications depending on location and program availability

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of six months housekeeping or commercial cleaning experience preferred
  • Ability to use a computer and prior cleaning experience is helpful
  • Knowledge of materials, equipment, cleaning methods, and cleaning chemicals is helpful
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Previous custodial experience in a healthcare environment is preferred

Physical demands

  • Considerable use of arms and legs and moving of whole body; climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, twisting, squatting, and handling materials
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 40-50 lbs and push/pull variable weight limits on flat surfaces or up and down ramps
  • On feet for the majority of the shift
  • May be exposed to certain levels of noise with equipment in operation

Schedule

  • Full time, 40 hours per week
  • 8-hour day shifts
  • Work hours may vary depending on patient/resident needs, including overtime, call, backup call, nights, days, weekends, and holidays

Pay

Salary range: $16.00 - $22.50 per hour
