Environmental Services Housekeeping Associate

Banner Health is opening a new state-of-the-art freestanding emergency department in Buckeye, Arizona, scheduled to open in November 2026. This 14,500-square-foot facility will feature 14 exam rooms, a dedicated trauma and treatment room, and advanced diagnostic capabilities, including X-ray, CT scan, and ultrasound services.

About the role

This position performs all cleaning of patient rooms and assigned areas as part of the environmental services team. The role ensures a clean, safe, and aesthetically pleasing environment for patients, visitors, and staff with minimal disruption. The work environment is fast-paced and physically demanding, requiring extensive walking, standing, lifting, and pushing a cleaning cart. You may be assigned to clean specialty areas, including the morgue or COVID-19 units, and will handle cleaning chemicals and biohazard materials while following safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Performs assigned cleaning tasks, including dusting, mopping, scrubbing, disinfecting, vacuuming, and polishing according to departmental policies.
• Plans and completes daily cleaning tasks efficiently.
• Empties hampers, transports soiled linen, and removes trash, including medical waste and sharps containers.
• Inventories, restocks, and replenishes supplies such as toilet tissue, paper towels, and hand soap in assigned areas.
• Maintains cleanliness of departmental equipment and reports necessary repairs.
• Protects equipment from damage through proper use and logs equipment usage.
• Performs special projects, such as window washing, wall washing, or removing heavily soiled items.
• Responds to questions and requests from patients, staff, and visitors, ensuring high customer service satisfaction.

Requirements

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team without continuous supervision.
• Ability to interpret and respond to verbal and written instructions.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and phone-based.
• Ability to read and understand material safety data sheets and instructions for mixing and using cleaning chemicals.
• Must be able to fill out chemical identification stickers.

Employees working at Banner Behavioral Health Hospital, BTMC Behavioral, or BUMG/BUMCT/BUMCS in a Behavioral Health clinical setting serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card at the time of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment. An Arizona Criminal History Affidavit must be signed upon hire. Employees at Olive Branch Senior Center must also possess and maintain an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous related experience in environmental services.
• Familiarity with environmental services equipment and cleaning techniques.

Schedule

• 40 hours per week.
• Shift: 12:00 AM – 4:30 AM.
• Two days off per week (days off are not consecutive).
