About the role
This position is responsible for performing various cleaning tasks, moving equipment and furniture, and maintaining floor care to provide patients, visitors, and health sciences staff with a safe and clean environment. It involves maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and freedom from hazards and infection control issues.
Responsibilities
- Perform basic cleaning tasks, movement of equipment and furniture, and floor care maintenance under direct supervision.
- Assist in the movement of biohazardous waste for proper disposal and regular trash removal to designated receptacles.
- Maintain personal protective equipment in good condition as assessed by job hazard assessments.
- Provide support in maintaining a safe and clean environment for patients, visitors, and health sciences staff.
- Clean Patient Care Spaces, Public Spaces, Clinical Spaces, Research Spaces, Laboratory Spaces, Meeting Spaces, and Office Spaces.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet departmental and institutional goals.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and consistently meet job expectations.
Minimum Education and/or Training
- High School Diploma/GED preferred.
Minimum Experience
- Experience in environmental services preferred.
- Understanding of environmental regulations, laws, and standards preferred.
- Basic knowledge of biohazardous and/or hazardous waste management preferred.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- The employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- The employee frequently is required to sit and climb or balance.
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- The employee must move about the workspace to access work surfaces and shelves, cabinets, drawers, and equipment at, below, or above the work surface.
- The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and noxious odors.
- On occasion, the employee may be exposed to infectious disease.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- An essential function is compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local safety and health regulations.
Pay
A reasonable estimate of the current salary range is $19.00 - $27.50 per hour for the role of Environmental Services Attendant.
