Full-time, evening shift position.
About the role
Cleans and services internal and external premises to maintain the hospital in a sanitary, attractive, and orderly condition on an assigned schedule and/or shift.
Responsibilities
- Knows, understands, incorporates, and demonstrates the organization’s mission, vision, and values in behaviors, practices, and decisions.
- Maintains clean and aseptic conditions in assigned areas by vacuuming, scouring, dust mopping, high dusting, making beds, removing trash/linen, and washing walls and ceilings.
- Uses detergents, germicides, and other supplies effectively, following recommended handling and mixing procedures.
- Maintains a clean and neat station, cart, closet, and equipment; reports needed repairs to the supervisor.
- Logs activities throughout the work shift and completes required paperwork at the end of the shift.
- Collects soiled linen or distributes clean linen as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the manager.
- Maintains knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, organizational integrity programs, and standards of conduct to ensure adherence in a manner reflecting honesty, ethics, and professionalism.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred.
- Must be comfortable operating in a collaborative, shared leadership environment.
- Must possess a personal presence characterized by honesty, integrity, and caring, with the ability to inspire and motivate others to promote the organization’s philosophy, mission, vision, goals, and values.

Physical activity requirements
- Constant (67–100% of workday):
- Walking: Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks and perform cleaning duties.
- Standing: Alternating between standing and walking.
- Stooping: Bending body downward and forward at the waist while cleaning or emptying trash cans.
- Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction (e.g., vacuuming, dusting, mopping).
- Handling: Working primarily with the whole hand while scouring, dusting, obtaining supplies, and handling equipment.
- Frequent (34–66% of workday):
- Pushing/Pulling: Moving supply carts with minimal sustained force.
- Lifting: Moving hideaway beds, cots, box trash, trash bags, and linen bags frequently up to 20 lbs. and occasionally in excess of 50 lbs.
- Climbing: Up to five flights of stairs, often while wet-mopping or using ladders.
- Kneeling or Crouching: With the freedom to choose posture.
- Occasional (33% or less of workday):
- Talking: Expressing ideas to convey instructions to other workers in person or by phone.
- Hearing: Perceiving detailed information through oral communication in person, by phone, beeper, or paging system.
Physical demand requirements
- If a patient or object requires lifting over 50 lbs., mechanical/assistive devices or additional personnel must be utilized.
- Heavy work: Exerting up to 65 lbs. push/pull force frequently, lifting up to 50 lbs. occasionally, up to 40 lbs. frequently, and up to 20 lbs. constantly to move patients and/or objects.
Visual acuity requirements
- Normal visual acuity is required to maintain accuracy and neatness of work.

- Ability to maintain satisfactory job performance and a high standard of courtesy and cooperation despite the stress of a hospital work environment.
- Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing tasks without loss of efficiency or composure.
