About the role

As an Environmental Services Aide 1, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of our healthcare facility. Your work directly contributes to patient care and satisfaction by ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning duties throughout the healthcare facility, including patient rooms, hallways, waiting areas, restrooms, and staff areas.
  • Follow established cleaning protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with healthcare sanitation standards and regulations.
  • Handle cleaning chemicals, disinfectants, and equipment according to safety guidelines and infection control protocols.
  • Collect and dispose of regular and medical waste in accordance with facility policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; report shortages to the supervisor.
  • Respond promptly to cleaning requests and emergencies, such as spills or contamination incidents, prioritizing tasks based on urgency.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other departments to coordinate cleaning schedules that minimize disruption to patient care.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor while interacting with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding cleaning needs, challenges, or safety concerns.
  • Document completed tasks and maintain cleaning logs as required by facility protocols and regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous cleaning or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience in healthcare or hospital settings is a plus.
  • Understanding of OSHA and infection control standards.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality in previous employment.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality in a healthcare environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
  • Comfort working in various environments including patient care areas.

Skills

  • Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and procedures.
  • Understanding of infection control principles.
  • Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and disinfectants.
  • Proficiency in operating cleaning equipment (floor buffers, carpet extractors, etc.).
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Basic communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Knowledge of waste segregation and disposal procedures.
  • Understanding of safety protocols in healthcare settings.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay

Annual salary range: $10.01 to $15.64, based on experience and qualifications.
