Environmental Service Worker I - Full Time, Evenings
About the role
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Environmental Service Worker I - Full Time, Evenings - Environmental Srvcs - 3:00PM - 11:00PM Monday - Friday with Alternating Weekends. In this role, the successful candidate serves a diverse population of patients, including those with special needs, at all stages of the life cycle. ESW I demonstrate the ability to deal effectively with various age groups of patients, visitors and staff in order to provide required environmental duties. Communication skills must be demonstrated through age-specific interactions that enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Report to Supervisor for assignment.
- Obtain cleaning equipment and ensure all cleaning items are in place.
- Proceed to destination and introduce self to patient/visitors/employees and briefly explain your assignment.
- Ensure 7 Step Cleaning procedure is completed.
- Follow 7 Step Cleaning Procedure in vacated patient area including bed sanitizing ensuring linen is clean, neat and in excellent condition.
- Visually inspect area upon completion of cleaning to ensure appropriate levels of cleaning and neatness have been achieved.
- Obtain cleaning supplies and cleaning chemicals to complete assignments.
- Stock closet/cart with needed supplies/chemicals to complete required assignments.
- Maintain cart in neat, clean, orderly condition.
- Ensure that Environmental cart is not blocking any fire doors.
- Follow manufacturer guidelines when using chemicals.
- Ensure all chemicals are secured when leaving the area.
- Maintain cart in working order.
- Report unsafe equipment and products to supervisor.
- Utilize AIDET with each patient, visitor and staff encounter.
- Promote and project the hospital’s service standards in daily job tasks.
- Promote a positive patient experience during all patient encounters.
- Demonstrate competencies related to the 7 step room cleaning procedure.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency in order to follow written work assignments and maintain records.
- Approximately one to three months experience to gain knowledge of cleaning procedures and equipment use and maintenance.
- Continued education through appropriate seminars, workshops, participation in departmental meetings, inservices and attention to NYU policy.
- Good interpersonal skills demonstrable in interactions with staff, administrators, patients and visitors.
The salary range for the role is $51,597.00 - $51,597.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
