Environmental Service Specialty Tech
Job Summary
As our Environmental Service Specialty Technician, you will help provide basic and specialized cleaning services throughout the hospital. Your primary focus will be on the maintenance and cleaning of hard and soft flooring surfaces, including stairwells, hallways, and public spaces, using heavy mechanical equipment such as scrubbers, buffers, polishers, extractors, and wet vacuuming equipment. You will also work in Specialty Units, providing a safe care environment for patients, and staff (visitors as appropriate to setting) within a specialty area (surgical services/perioperative suite, cath lab, endoscopy, etc.), achieving this by demonstrating the principles of cleaning, disinfecting, and quality assurance towards the reduction of harmful pathogens for the benefit of patients, visitors, and staff.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean and safe environment within the hospital, with a primary focus on floor care and specialized cleaning in various hospital units.
- Complete assigned tasks, performing all types of floor care and maintenance throughout the facility, including hard surfaces and carpeting, stripping and waxing floor surfaces.
- Perform project work and specialty tasks according to facility needs, which may include tasks such as conference room set up/dismantle according to function sheets and schedules, cleaning of stairwells and elevators, and hanging of cubicle curtains.
- Clean and disinfect specialty units and equipment, including areas such as Surgical Services, Labor Delivery, Critical Care, Endoscopy, MRI, Trauma, Cath Lab, NICU, Mental Health, and Burn Unit.
- Demonstrate working knowledge of health care cleaning and disinfecting principles and requirements, proper and safe chemical use, equipment handling, and labor-saving products for all items within the specialty environment tasked with servicing.
Requirements
- Preferred High School Diploma or GED
- Floor care experience
- Previous healthcare experience
