Environmental Scientist (Wetlands)
About the role
Stantec is seeking an Environmental Scientist to lead impactful work across the Gulf region. The ideal candidate will support projects and key client relationships, lead permitting efforts, and provide technical support for projects requiring environmental approvals.
Responsibilities
- Support projects and key client relationships — from water resources, transportation, municipal capital improvement, natural gas pipelines, solar facilities, and other energy related projects.
- Lead permitting efforts at the local, state, and federal level including agency coordination with USACE, following NEPA, ESA, and CWA compliance as well as applicable state regulations.
- Lead teams that collect and report on tasks including wetland delineations, threatened and endangered species habitat characterizations, land use mapping, and other natural resource-focused surveys.
- Cook up agency communications, oversee technical assessments, and guide project teams through successful execution.
- Affirm work plans, assemble project teams, and ensure compliance with scope and timely completion of tasks.
- Establish and maintain quality assurance plans and safety plans for assigned projects.
- Provide mentorship to early-career staff.
Requirements
- Intermediate level understanding of technical environmental impact analysis methods related to state and federal environmental regulations.
- Demonstrated skill and commitment to QA/QC practices.
- Demonstrated experience or willingness to manage multiple tasks and ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.
- Demonstrated ability in collaborative problem-solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates.
- Demonstrated leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.
Qualifications
- Intermediate level understanding of technical environmental impact analysis methods related to state and federal environmental regulations.
- Working knowledge of relevant state and federal agencies.
- Demonstrated experience or willingness to manage multiple tasks and ability to motivate self and others to overcome obstacles and achieve goals.
- Demonstrated ability in collaborative problem-solving with stakeholders, clients, and teammates.
- Demonstrated leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance.
- Requires flexibility to travel as needed for project and fieldwork.

Pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
