Environmental Scientist II
Job Description
Assist with environmental regulatory and permitting processes and local, state and Federal agency permit applications
Assist with environmental assessment studies for permitting, wetland/stream delineations, watershed assessments, water quality permitting, compliance monitoring, and preparation of environmental documentation
Assist with delineations of Waters of the U.S. (including wetlands) in accordance with current regulatory requirements and guidelines, prepare supporting documentation, and conduct Jurisdictional Determinations (JD)
Assist with stream, wetland, and wildlife habitat assessments
Assist with compilation of various environmental documentation for multi-disciplinary projects
Utilize GPS, ArcGIS, and Microsoft Office for project data collection, analysis, and reporting
Qualifications
- No prior experience required; however, candidates with 3 years of experience are preferred.
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources or a related field
- Techincal and field experience preferred in wetland delineation and other natural resource surveys, environmental data collection, compliance monitoring and environmental permitting
- Knowledge of environmental regulatory compliance and documentation, and experience with field work (natural resource assessments) preferred
- Detailed knowledge of Erosion and Sediment Control Practices
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit various audiences.
- Demonstrates a strong willingness to learn about their respective discipline.
- Detail oriented with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments
- Strong ability to work in a team environment
- Must have the ability to work in the field in different weather conditions
- Must be able to physically navigate in the field
- Willingness and ability to work extended hours in the field, in all seasons, with occasional weekend or holiday work.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
