Environmental Scientist 1

About the role

We'll count on you to work on a wide variety of environmental compliance and natural resources projects as they relate to water resources, transportation and development projects.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of mid-level and senior environmental scientists and water resource engineers
• Take responsibility for assisting with environmental permits, NEPA documentation, biological assessments and other environmental compliance documentation
• Affiliate with senior and mid-level scientists in field work associated with the collection of natural resource data
• Perform other duties as needed

Requirements

• Preference given to local candidates
• Physical Requirements: Must be able to complete field site visits and record natural resource data in conditions that include sloped terrain, thick vegetation, and inclement weather
• Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds without assistance
• Must be able to effectively communicate in person, by telephone and email
• Must be able to effectively work in minimally supervised and/or unsupervised environments
• Work hours other than 8 to 5 which may include weekends and/or night shifts
• Must have a valid Driver's License
• Must be able to operate a motor vehicle day or night
• Required travel for project work based on the needs of the business

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Sciences or closely related field
• Knowledge of wetland delineation, field investigation techniques, and agency coordination requirements
• Excellent writing and communication skills
• MS Office experience
