About the role

The Environmental Professional for Air Compliance and Permitting supports an area of assigned petroleum product assets. The position is available at various levels based on experience.

Responsibilities

  • Mentor entry-level employees on compliance system management.
  • Develop tools and templates for managing environmental compliance and remediation information.
  • Manage field inspections for operating assets and construction projects.
  • Provide senior-level knowledge of compliance requirements and operating or construction parameters.
  • Enhance existing compliance programs based on audit results.
  • Lead internal audits of facilities.
  • Represent the company in evaluating and implementing minor emerging regulatory issues.
  • Resolve regulatory applicability issues and identify compliance requirements and tasks.
  • Apply risk-based analysis of compliance related to operations or construction practices.
  • Support less experienced professionals to resolve complex questions of applicability or requirements.
  • Manage all environmental programs and their application within complex operating assets or construction projects.
  • Develop new procedures and tools to facilitate and demonstrate compliance.
  • Manage and participate in agency inspections and represent the company in negotiations on compliance or enforcement issues.
  • Coordinate and facilitate environmental project permitting.
  • Collect and review environmental field samples (air, water, and waste).

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental, natural science, engineering preferred and/or a combination of formal education and 3 years related experience in environmental compliance.
  • Knowledge of state and federal environmental regulations and standards and their applicability to operations.
  • Ability to analyze, research, compile, and prepare permit applications, logs, reports, and correspondence and company responses to agency requests.
  • Ability to evaluate, research, and interpret governmental regulations, equipment performance manuals, regulatory agency guidance and instructions, reports, correspondence, and company policies and procedures.
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Ability to apply math, algebraic formulas, and statistics.
  • Ability to interact, advise and communicate effectively, exchange information/provide instructions, conduct verbal presentations.
  • Ability to develop communications utilizing fundamental technical writing skills.
  • Ability to present training materials.
  • Ability to utilize office equipment including computers and applicable job-related software, including Microsoft Office tools.
  • Ability to operate tools/equipment.
