Key Responsibilities
- Actively mentor junior staff and support overall development of the team.
- Provide mentorship to Associate Principals as assigned.
- Attend project meetings and provide solutions to technical and administrative issues as necessary.
- Market our services.
- Maintain and further develop the client database.
- Oversee project budgets and review change orders and invoices.
- Absorb collections efforts.
- Train and oversee subordinate staff members.
- Strong ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Oversee environmental projects.
- Aid junior staff with resolution of issues and training of field staff.
- Oversee the preparation and review of proposals and change orders.
- Oversee the preparation and review of environmental reports from junior staff.
- Perform deliverable reviews in accordance with ECS Principal review policy.
- Host or attend project discussions with clients, follow up on reports to determine if there are questions.
- Aid senior staff with staffing decisions.
- Interact with Project Managers to ensure that project set up and implementation procedures are being completed.
- Supervise subordinate staff regarding work assignments to ensure properly trained and experienced personnel are assigned.
- Perform Principal oversight and review of projects in accordance with ECS Principal Policy.
- Ensure that deliverables are completed, and projects are closed out in accordance with ECS QA/QC policies and guidelines.
- Aid with client interaction/discussion regarding findings and conclusions of reports.
- Discuss how changes at the site could affect the project outcome or budget with the project managers and the client.
- Aid with client interaction/discussion regarding findings and conclusions of reports.
- Ensure that the deliverables follow the scope of work proposed by ECS and explain deviations as needed.
- Communicate with junior staff to direct field work performed by drill crews, test pit crews and assist with rig access issues on Groundwater and soil investigations.
- Develop and review site work plans including sample/boring locations, equipment needs, safety requirements and subcontractor logistics that account for client goals for the project.
- Manage remediation system design, installation, operation and maintenance.
- Communicate with the client any onsite conditions that may impact the scope, budget, or technology needed onsite. Ensure permits are in place.
- Manage and review the results of underground storage tank assessments.
- Ensure properly licensed individuals are performing the work and that ECS safety protocols are followed.
- Support and mentor staff in their development.
Qualifications
- Bachelor and/or Master of Science in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or other Engineering degree applicable to Environmental Consulting, Natural or Environmental Science, Geology, or other degree relevant to the practice of Environmental Consulting.
- Minimum 12 years of related experience.
- 16 or more years of experience can meet education requirements.
- Licensed as at least one of the following: PE, PG, REM, CIH, CHMM, PWS, CSP, LSS, CIE, REPA, or CEM.
- Candidates must have achieved previous designation as Principal at ECS or hold similar designation from competitor firm.
Skills and Abilities
- Extensive knowledge of environmental principles and applications.
- Excellent Client Manager.
- Extensive knowledge of permitting processes, environmental regulations, and environmental test methods.
- Review and provide feedback of field and laboratory testing by others.
- Perform training and/or corrective action as necessary.
- Excellent ability to manage and develop new clients.
- Demonstrate established technical excellence, strong leadership skills, and an dedication to continuous professional development for their benefit and for the advancement of their field.
