With a strong emphasis on grassroots organizing, expert policy research, and holding elected officials accountable, we empower communities to take meaningful action on critical environmental issues.
About the role
Join the Field Canvass team in Northampton, MA as a full-time or part-time Grassroots Organizer. Engage directly with communities to educate, fundraise, and mobilize support for Clean Water Action’s policy priorities.
Responsibilities
- Engage with communities to educate, fundraise, and mobilize support for Clean Water Action’s policy priorities, such as combating climate change, advocating for clean water affordability, and banning toxic chemicals.
- Raise awareness and funds to sustain critical environmental and public health initiatives.
- Advocate for bold legislative action to address systemic issues, including utility affordability and corporate accountability.
Schedule
- Evening hours: September–May (2:00 PM–9:00 PM, Monday through Friday)
- June–August (3:00 PM–10:00 PM, Monday through Friday)
- Full-time positions between 32.5 and 40 hours per week
Pay
Competitive pay starting at $18/hour, with bonus opportunities.

Requirements
- Minimum 3-day-a-week commitment.
- Passion for environmental and social justice issues.
- Strong oral communication skills.
- Interest in nonprofit work, grassroots organizing, or policy advocacy.
- This is an in-person role based in Northampton, MA. You must be within 1-hour driving distance of the office or plan to relocate to qualify for employment.
Qualifications
Multilingual candidates and those with backgrounds in Sociology, Political Science, Public Health, Environmental Studies, or Communications are strongly encouraged to apply.
