About this position: Environmental Laborer in Fairbanks, AK
- Physically demanding work to support environmental protection, remediation and restoration projects.
- Hazardous and non-hazardous waste management (sorting, containerizing, loading)
- Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations
- Cleaning and preparing construction sites
- Loading and unloading materials
- Operating basic power tools
Qualifications
- Education Requirements: High School graduate or equivalent
- Level of Experience Requirements: Asbestos Abatement certification (must be willing to obtain), Construction experience preferred
- Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Other Characteristics: Time management, Adaptability, Following instructions, Problem solving, Work independently, Strong physical stamina, strength and manual dexterity to perform, lift and carry heavy materials while adhering to safety protocols, Safety Consciousness, Knowledge of organizational procedures and workflows, Basic knowledge of relevant technologies or tools, Knowledge of customer service practices, Knowledge of data privacy and confidentiality principles, Communication skills (written and verbal), Time management and prioritization, Problem-solving and critical thinking, Interpersonal and teamwork skills, Attention to detail
Necessary Physical Requirements
- The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this role.
- Employees must always maintain a constant state of mental alertness.
- Ability to lift, push, pull or carry heavy material for short periods of time.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, standing, climbing ladders or scaffold.
- Ability to work on feet for long periods of time and in strenuous, fast-paced environments.
- Ability to work in varying weather conditions (heat, humidity, cold, rain) and noisy, dusty or dirty environments.
- The job requires consistent use of back, shoulder, and knee muscles necessitating high stamina.
Schedule and Flexibility
- During peak season the hours can be as demanding as 12 hour days 6 days a week.
- During winter times maybe more flexible and could be off for a month or two.
Other Pertinent Work Details
- This position will require to travel out of town for work as we have work located in Ft Greely and Valdez.
- Supervisory Responsibilities: This position will not have supervisory responsibilities.
- DOT Covered/Safety-Sensitive Role Requirements: This position is not subject to federal requirements regarding Department of Transportation “safety-sensitive” functions.
